Gestational Malaria is the presence of Plasmodium in peripheral blood and / or finding the parasite in placenta; pregnancy increascs the susceptibility to Plasmodium, causing adverse effccts on mother and child. Objectives: To determine socio-demographic and clínica) profile in gestalional malaria cases trcated at the Hospitals Regional Loreto and Iquitos between January 2003 to Dccember 2007. Methods: descriptivc cross prospcctive analysis. Thcy were cvaluated 96 paticnts with gestational malaria. The unit of analysis were thc medica! and perinatal records. Results: gestational malaria cases come from the peripheral area (49%) and l to 2 births (62.5%), Plasmodium vivar the 54.2% of cases. The most common maternal complication was scvere anaemia (40.6%); fetal most common complication was: RNBP (9.4%). Matemal complications rclatcd to matemal age (p = 0.025), rural origin (p = 0.002), gestational age (p = 0.001), history of previous malaria (p = 0.000), duration of illness> 7 days (p = 0.023), infection with P. falcipanum (p = 0.029), and parasite burden (p = 0.000). The fetal complicalions related to matemal age (p = 0.046), with the rural origin (p = 0.028), duration of illness> 7 days (p = 0.04), infection with P.falciparum (p = 0.001) and the parasite burden (p = 0.000).
