Objective: Determine the Prevalence of Papanicolaou cytology in women who attended the Loreto Regional Hospital during the months of January to December 2023. Method: A quantitative study was carried out with a descriptive, observational, retrospective and cross-sectional design, in which observation and documentary analysis were used as an instrument since the data from the clinical records with a total of 367 patients were reviewed. They reviewed the biological and pathological anatomy variables of each one and were contrasted with the Papanicolaou results to identify the epithelial lesion in the cervix. These women were treated in the pathological anatomy service of the Loreto Regional Hospital during the months of January to December 2023. Results: They show that the number of women treated in the pathological anatomy service of the Loreto Regional Hospital during the months of January to December 2023 was 367 and the month with the highest number of patients was in the month of January with 42 patients from a total of 367, however the highest number of positive cases for Pap smear was in the month of September with 12.8% of the total positive cases. In addition, it was found that the age group with the highest number of positive cases was 41 to 50 years old with 30.2% (26/86) and the origin with the highest number of positive Pap smear cases was from the district of Iquitos with 64% of the all of cases. in the Pathological Anatomy service of the Loreto Regional Hospital during the months of January to December 2023 Conclusions: That the prevalence of Papanicolaou with the presence of atypical cells compatible with epithelial lesions of the neck of the cervix is 86 patients out of 367, which corresponds to 23.4% of the women who attended the Pathological Anatomy service of the Loreto Regional Hospital during the months of January. to December 2023.
