The main objective of this research was to determine the effect of the preventive program on oral health knowledge in parents of students with special needs in a special basic educational center, Iquitos 2023. The study was descriptive, quantitative, prospective, comparative, longitudinal and the design was experimental, quasi-experimental. The sample was made up of 180 parents or guardians. The technique used in the research was observation and questionnaire. The main results obtained regarding the level of knowledge about oral health before the educational intervention were that 13.3% had fair knowledge, and 86.7% had poor knowledge. After the educational intervention, it was found that 37.8% presented good knowledge, 30% presented average knowledge and 32.2% presented poor knowledge. The statistical test for paired samples was applied Student's T, where a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05) was obtained (p < 0.05) which indicates that there are differences between the mean scores of the level of parental knowledge. With a probability of error less than 5%, the parents' level of knowledge is higher than the level of knowledge before the application of the educational intervention. It was concluded that the preventive program significantly influences oral health knowledge in parents of schoolchildren with different abilities in a special basic educational center.
