It is estimated that low back pain is one of the major causes of work disability in the world. Often, people with low back pain may be affected in all areas of their lives, because the sensation of pain or discomfort will prevent him or her from carrying out their basic self-care activities, social interactions, function at work, leisure, sports or home activities as usual. Suffering low back pain entails high socio-health and personal costs for the individuals who suffer from it. One of the main problems is the affectation of their physical and psychological functionality and their quality of life. Therefore, the main objective of the present study was to determine the association between sociodemographic factors and low back pain. It was a crosssectional analytical correlational study that included 150 patients who attended the outpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation clinic of the Regional Hospital of Loreto. A prevalence of 80% of low back pain was found. It was found that being older and/or equal to 60 years of age (p < 0.001), being male (p < 0.001), being motorcycle taxi drivers (p < 0.001) and having grade I obesity (p=0.042) were statistically associated with low back pain. It is concluded that low back pain is highly prevalent in patients attending the outpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation clinic and is associated with sociodemographic factors.
