An investigation was carried out whose main objective was to determine, on the one hand, the prevailing leadership styles in the pilots of the 42nd Air Group and, on the other hand, to determine the personality characteristics related to military leadership, in the same personnel. of pilots of Grupo Aéreo 42, located in the city of Iquitos, 2022. To determine the prevailing leadership styles in pilot personnel of Grupo Aéreo 42 of the city of Iquitos, the instrument "Leadership Assessment" was used, prepared and applied by Carrasco Gonzales and Mesías Córdova (2019). This instrument has been elaborated and submitted to the psychometric controls of the case (Validity and Reliability) by the authors. This instrument evaluates the three most well-known leadership styles: a) Autocratic (Authoritarian) Leadership; b) Democratic Leadership; c) Liberal Leadership. To describe the main characteristics attributed to military leaders by the pilot personnel, the Military Leaders Characteristics Evaluation instrument was used, developed and duly validated and reliably by Beramendi, M. (2021). This instrument considers the following characteristics of military leaders: a) Personality traits; b) Leadership Management and, c) Relations with the military institution. The population was 72 officers from Group 42 FAP, city of Iquitos. The study sample was 41 officers of the pilot specialty. The type of sampling was non-parametric of the intentional type. The indicated instruments were applied to the sample. Among the main conclusions, it is indicated that a manifest tendency was found for the authoritarian or autocratic style and in relation to the personality characteristics, it was found "Being more open with subordinates" and "Being charismatic". Regarding leadership management, the following descriptions were found: "They can better understand subordinates" and "They are more loyal to their institution". To describe the relationships of the leaders with their institution, the phrase was used: "They sacrifice more for their institutions."
