Resumen: El Objetivo de este estudio fue, establecer la relación que existe entre la
caries dental con la higiene oral en niños preescolares del C.E.I.168 santa
clara. 2024; con metodología cuantitativa, diseño descriptivo,
observacional, prospectivo-correlacional y transversal. Población: 220 y
muestra: 142. Se encontró que el 40,1% de preescolares tenía 5 años;
54.2% fueron del sexo femenino. Prevalencia de caries dental: 80,3%; el
Índice Ceo-d muy alto (34,5%). El IHO-S fue optimo en el 32,4% y 26,8%
mala.
40.3%. La relación del IHO-s y el sexo: el 33,8% de niños IHO-S optimo y
niñas el 31,2% presentó higiene oral óptima. Hubo una relación del IHO-S
optimo con el ICeo-d muy bajo (38,9%); IHO-S malo y niños ICeo-d alto
(42,3%). La prueba de Chi cuadrado X2c= 27,811; p valor= 0.006 < 0.05;
es decir, con un error menor al 0.05% se rechaza la hipótesis nula y se
acepta la hipótesis alterna. Existe relación significativa entre la caries dental
y la higiene oral en niños de C.E.I. N° 168 Santa Clara, 2024.
The objective of this study was to establish the relationship between dental caries and oral hygiene in preschool children from C.E.I.168 Santa Clara. 2024; with quantitative methodology, descriptive, observational, prospective-correlational and transversal design. Population: 220 and sample: 142. It was found that 40.1% of preschoolers were 5 years old; 54.2% were female. Prevalence of dental caries: 80.3%; the Ceo-d Index very high (34.5%). The IHO-S was optimal in 32.4% and poor in 26.8%. The Ceo-d Index was 5.05, extracted teeth predominated in boys and ICeo-d 5.60 in girls, the majority with decayed teeth. It was evident that at five years an ICeo-d (5.96). At 3 years, 37.8% had bad IHO-S, at 4 years, 27.1% had optimal, regular IHO-S, and at 5 years, 40.3% had optimal IHO-s. The relationship between IHO-s and sex: 33.8% of boys had optimal IHO-S and 31.2% of girls had optimal oral hygiene. There was a very low relationship between the optimal IHO-S and the ICeo-d (38.9%); poor OHI-S and high ICeo-d children (42.3%). The Chi square test X2c= 27.811; p value= 0.006 < 0.05; That is, with an error less than 0.05%, the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. There is a significant relationship between dental caries and oral hygiene in children from C.E.I. No. 168 Santa Clara, 2024.
