The objective of the work was to describe the management of household solid waste in the District of Nauta, Province of Loreto, in the year 2021. The research was qualitative with descriptive and exploratory analysis. To collect the data, interviews were conducted applying the respective question forms for 342 interviewees with closed questions. The data obtained were analyzed in an exploratory manner, based on descriptive statistical procedures, with measures of central tendency and dispersion. The use of Figures and tables allowed the representation of the multiple responses referring to each qualitative and quantitative variable. The results show that families are aware of the risks of not carrying out adequate solid waste management. Meanwhile, the amount of waste generated among the population is 515 grs. /hab/day. The type of container they use to place solid waste are sacks and plastic bags that generally do not keep it closed, which can cause the proliferation of vectors and microorganisms that can transmit diseases. The municipal waste collection service is deficient. The population does not receive training regarding the proper management of solid waste by any state or private body. The majority of the population agrees and considers that it is important to have a solid waste management plan in the home for better waste management and storage. Periodic training is recommended for families regarding Solid Waste Management; The municipality could increase the units for the collection of solid waste in order to improve the service, in order to avoid the formation of critical points and avoid contamination of the environment and the Marañón River that passes near the city. Promote in regular basic education the recycling of solid waste, and compliance with solid waste management standards.
