lt has been shown that during pregnancy, there is a higher prevalence of periodontal disease; which has been associated with perinatal events such as preterm birth, low birth weight and preeclampsia, the present objective is to determine the prevalence of periodontal disease according to the characteristics of pregnant served in the CS of San Juan Bautista, for which a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was performed, evaluating 131 pregnant women of the es of San Juan who was determined the rate of oral hygiene and periodontal index. 48.9% are aged 20 to 34, the 67.2% are cohabiting, the 58.0% come from the accessible area, the 64.1 % secondary educated, the 45.8% were in the 2nd lrimester of pregnancy, the 42.0% are multiparous women. The 84.0% presented gingival disease; the 32.1% presented mild inflammation, 38.9% moderate inflammation and 13.0% severe inflammation. Gum disease was more prevalen! in pregnant: 35 more years (76.7%, p= 0.036), who come from the rural area (80.8%, p =0.042), the 3rd trimester of pregnancy (82.8%, p =0.025). The 48.1 % have sorne degree of periodontal disease; the 22.1 % have degree 1, 13.7% grade 2 and 8.4% grade 3. The higher prevalence of periodontal disease was pregnant: from 35 to over years of age (63.3%, p = 0.031); that come from the rural area (65.4%, p =0.037), with primary education (66.7%, p = 0.017), 3rd quarter (69.0%, p=0.012) and the large multiparous women (75.0o/op=0.043).
