The development of social-emotional skills in children and adolescents is crucial for their mental health, learning and comprehensive growth. Therefore, the objective of this study is to carry out a systematic review to determine the effectiveness of art programs to strengthen socio-emotional skills. For this, the PRISMA guide and the PEDro scale were used to select and evaluate primary studies. Results in the search of databases such as PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science yielded 197 studies, of which three met the inclusion criteria, focusing on art therapy interventions in Russia, the USA and the United Kingdom for children and adolescents between the ages of 7 and 17 years old. These interventions, which include techniques such as mandala drawing, dramatization, and movement psychotherapy, demonstrated improvements in self-expression, emotional regulation, and interpersonal relationships over periods of two weeks to three months. Although the studies showed limitations in blinding, they achieved high comparability and applied intention-to-treat analysis. In conclusion, art programs are effective in socio-emotional development, promoting skills such as self-awareness, self-management, and social awareness. However, more robust research is needed to confirm these findings and evaluate their sustainability over time.
