This research focuses on optimizing the foundation of the Tarata Bridge, located over the Huallaga River in the province of San Martín. The proposal targets the bridge's right and left abutments, whose piles reach depths of up to 27.5 meters. The goal is to improve the soil using gravel columns, increasing the bearing capacity of the ground. As a result of this improvement, the number of piles per abutment has been reduced from 8 to 4, optimizing the structural design and lowering costs. Through detailed calculations and validations based on extreme load requirements outlined in the technical report, it has been confirmed that the proposal meets structural stability criteria. Incorporating gravel columns not only optimizes the foundation but also offers a more economical alternative, significantly reducing project timelines and costs. The research process includes analyzing the current bridge design, soil conditions, and applied loads. Calculations will compare the current situation with the optimized proposal, ensuring the modified design meets structural stability requirements. Finally, the study will evaluate the economic and technical benefits of the proposed solution, demonstrating its feasibility and advantages in terms of time and material savings.
