Currently, our students face various emotional challenges that can affect their future performance in multiple areas. Emotional intelligence facilitates socioemotional balance, and various studies demonstrate the importance of children learning to adequately express and control their emotions. This research aimed to determine the relationship between musical education and emotional intelligence in high school students from a public institution in Amarilis, Huánuco. The study was basic type, correlational level, quantitative approach and correlational descriptive design. The sample included 42 students from 3rd "D" and "E" of the afternoon shift. Two surveys validated by experts were used: one on musical education (15 items) and another on emotional intelligence (20 items), with reliability of 0.93% and 0.92% according to Cronbach's Alpha. The results show a significant positive average correlation between the variables (p-value=0.003 < 0.05; Rho = 0.454), confirming the hypothesis: "the better the musical education, the better the emotional intelligence." In conclusion, music education contributes to the development of emotional intelligence in students.
