The purpose of this research is to improve the collection management at Velasco Hermanos Inversiones S.A.C. The decrease in liquidity was primarily affected by unpaid tuition and enrollment fees. To resolve the situation, the school had to request bank financing, which comes with high costs. Hasty decisions led to an inability to meet the school’s obligations, prompting us to investigate the origins and consequences of the issues faced by the institution. In the first chapter, we will analyze the collection process at the school. Despite its international agreements and its value proposition centered on academic excellence, the lack of an adequate collection management system generates constant indebtedness. The goal is to evaluate how collection management impacts the financial situation of the institution. In the second chapter, we will explore three alternatives: improving the collection policy manual, implementing credit assessments for new clients, and establishing an automated billing system to optimize collections and reduce delinquency. Finally, in the third chapter, we select the third alternative, which is to implement a billing system to optimize collection management. This choice reduces manual effort and improves payment identification, which will decrease accounts receivable and enhance liquidity. The work employs a qualitative, applied methodology, including semi-structured interviews. The conclusions reveal that the lack of control in collections and clear policies generates delinquency, compromises the school’s liquidity and payment capacity, and causes dissatisfaction among parents, potentially negatively impacting enrollment payments and institutional prestige.
