In this work, the hydrodynamics of a section of the Zaña River in the department of Lambayeque, Peru is studied, due to the significant impact of flooding caused by climatic phenomena such as El Niño that affect these localities. These events have caused economic and human losses, highlighting the importance of investigating, preventing, and mitigating negative impacts. The objective of this research is to identify flood risk areas in the city of Nuevo Mocupe through the development of flood hazard maps. To achieve these objectives, several steps will be followed. First, meteorological and topographic information from the study area was collected, using data from local monitoring stations. Then, a hydraulic modeling of the Zaña River was carried out using the HEC-RAS software, which will allow simulating the river's behavior under different climatic conditions. Subsequently, the model's performance was evaluated by comparing the observed flood areas with the modeled ones, and risk scenarios will be defined based on maximum flows and hydrological characteristics. Finally, flood maps were generated to identify vulnerable areas, and solution alternatives will be proposed to mitigate the flood risk in the region. It is expected that the results of this study will contribute to the planning and management of disasters in Lambayeque
