Soil, as a base material, plays a crucial role in supporting the loads of the structure. However, its effectiveness can be compromised by geotechnical problems. One of the most common problems is the presence of soft soils, which are formed by fine saturated soils with low resistance and high deformability. These soils may experience excessive consolidation settlement when a load is applied. Since this type of geotechnical problem causes difficulties related to resistance and prolonged settlements, it is advisable to carry out a ground treatment in order to evaluate the improvement of resistance and elasticity parameters in saturated soft soils. This study addresses the improvement of saturated soft soils by incorporating gravel columns, applying the Priebe methodology (1995) that compares the soil properties before and after treatment with the objective of reducing settlements in the foundation of the Anaerobic Flow Reactor. ascending (RAFA) located in the district of José María Quimper, province of Camaná. The results obtained show us that the settlements are significantly reduced, with the settlement in the center of the foundation being 7.82 cm in the current condition and 4.439cm in the improved condition, as well as an improvement in the angular distortion that decreases from 0.003 to 0.002. In this way, it is demonstrated that the gravel column technique provides greater resistance to the deformation of soft soils, as will be demonstrated in this research work.
