Effective demand management is critical for the logistics chain, as it must be based on demand to plan, coordinate, and efficiently manage activities related to acquiring, storing, and distributing products or services. This thesis analyzes an environmental health company facing inadequate sourcing of imported supplies and products due to inadequate demand estimate. The methodology employed is qualitative, involving interviews with relevant company departments and a review of theories including the theory of constraints, competitive advantage theory, and resource and capability theory. Potential solutions explored include the implementation of demand forecasting systems such as Oracle ERP, SAP ERP, and Forecast Pro Trac. A comparative analysis of costs and implications revealed that Forecast Pro Trac is the best option for the company. In conclusion, effective demand management enhances sourcing capabilities by identifying when to place purchase orders, thereby improving the logistics chain's efficiency.
