The present research aimed to determine the influence of problem-based learning (PBL) and mathematics laboratory in the achievement of the development of mathematical competences of a group of first-semester students of the Professional School (EP) of Administration and Marketing of the FCA of the Universidad Andina Néstor Cáceres Velásquez subsidiary Puno, 2018-I, the experimental group that worked with the ABP strategy and mathematics laboratory, with respect to the students of the control group to which said strategy was not applied. The hypothesis that was formulated is: It significantly influences the level of achievement of the development of mathematical competence of the group that worked with the ABP methodology and mathematics laboratory, with respect to the control group, to which such methodology was not applied. The study was carried out in a sample of 50 first-semester students, who have an average age of 19 years, constituted in an experimental group and the control group of the PD of Administration and Marketing, based on a quantitative approach, with an experimental design of Quasi- experimental type, these students never worked with the PBL methodological strategy and are unaware of the situation problem-solving strategies, and they had little motivation or acceptance of mathematics and a low level of problem solving. The results indicate, according to the math pre-test, the absolute majority of students (84%) obtained scores that fluctuate between 00 and 10 points, with the mean of the control group of 6.67 points (on the vigesimal scale) it is higher only in 0.55 points compared to the 6.12 point experimental group (on the vigesimal scale).
