The objective of this research work is to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic stress. Given the nature of this study, it was decided to use a quantitative approach and data collection was carried out through the distribution of questionnaires. The data collected were subjected to a statistical analysis that involved representative and inferential methods. The derivations indicated the presence of a negative correspondence between the understanding of emotions and academic stress among students, which supports the formulated assumption. This reciprocity was demonstrated and justified by observing that the majority of students in the Initial Education program exhibit a medium level of emotional intelligence and experience low levels of academic stress. Ultimately, it follows that, to provide quality education, educational institutions must implement activities that encourage the development of emotional intelligence in students, with the purpose of mitigating academic stress.
