The objective of this research work is to reveal the relationship between motivation and reading comprehension in students at the I.E. Néstor Berrocal Falconí, located in the province of Parinacochas, Ayacucho Region, during the year 2023. The study developed a quantitative, non-experimental approach, with a correlational outline and a hypothetical-deductive procedure. The evidence, selected in a non-probabilistic manner for convenience, consisted of 20 second-grade high school students. The survey technique was used, using a motivation questionnaire and a reading comprehension test as data collection instruments. Both instruments were validated by expert judgment to guarantee the value of their content and were subsequently subjected to a reliability check. This pilot test resulted in a Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient of 0.784 for the motivation questionnaire and a KR-20 coefficient of 0.808 for the reading comprehension test. Once the data was collected, descriptive and inferential analysis was carried out, concluding that there is a direct relationship between motivation and reading comprehension. That is, as the level of motivation increases, so does the level of reading comprehension. The Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.894 indicates that it is a high positive correlation.
