The objective of this research work is to determine the relationship between exposure to instrumental music and the development of emotional intelligence, in students of the third grade of secondary education at the Simón Bolívar de Santa Eulalia educational institution, during the year 2023. The study chose a methodology based on the hypothetical-deductive approach, characterized by its emphasis on the formulation of conjectures and their subsequent contrast through data collection and analysis. A quantitative research design was used, with a descriptive-correlational approach and a non-experimental cross-sectional nature. This perspective allowed us to examine the relationships between variables, without intervening in their manipulation. The target population consisted of students in the third grade of secondary education at the institution in question. A questionnaire designed specifically for the thesis was used as a data collection instrument, addressing both exposure to instrumental music and the development of emotional intelligence. In practical terms, data were collected from a total of 30 students belonging to the third grade of secondary education at the Simón Bolívar de Santa Eulalia institution. These data were subjected to a statistical analysis, where Cronbach's alpha coefficient (α) was applied to evaluate the reliability of the instruments used. Likewise, the internal consistency of the questionnaires was guaranteed and thus ensure the validity of the results obtained. The effects showed that the data did not present significant normality. In this situation, the Spearman test was applied, which showed a p value equal to 0.00, being less than 0.05, and a correlation coefficient of 0.623. This result indicates a moderate positive correlation between the study variables. Ultimately, it was mainly concluded that there is a significant relationship between instrumental music and emotional intelligence in third-grade secondary school students at the Simón Bolívar educational institution in Santa Eulalia, 2023.
