The purpose of the current investigation was to determine if the program based on mindfulness has influence on the academic stress control on undergraduate students who attend a private university from Lima Metropolitana. The research study was based on a quasi-experimental design. The sample of the study was made up of 72 undergraduate students of English of both genders who were 16 up to 33 years old, 36 of them took part of the control group while the other 36 belonged to the experimental group, all these students were attending the 2019-2 semester. It was applied the academic stress diagnosis test, which was based on SISCO Inventory of academic stress created by Barraza (2007), realizing that, at the very moment when the pretest was taken, the control group reached an arithmetic mean of 53,89, meanwhile the experimental group reached 55,72. When comparing the results obtained in the pretest and the postest, it was visible that after applying the program, the academic stress had diminished in the experimental group in a 7,97, in contrast to the control group. It was also found that the experimental group had a lower average with respect to the control group in the stressors dimension and in the reactions and symptoms dimension (3.78 and 6.69 respectively). Regarding the dealing strategies dimension, it was noted that in the post-test there was an increase of 2.92 with respect to the pre-test applied to the experimental group; demonstrating the effectiveness of the mindfulness-based program proposed in the research.
