The objective of this research work was titled Cognitive reading strategies and their implications on the level of reading comprehension of students of the 2020-I cycle of the pre-university center of the National University of Engineering. The main problem is the relationship that exists between the use of cognitive reading strategies and the levels of reading comprehension of the students of the 2020-I cycle of the pre-university center of the National University of Engineering, in this regard, the objective was formulated: Determine the relationship that exists between the use of the cognitive reading strategies and the levels of reading comprehension of the students of the 2020-I cycle of the pre-university center of the National University of Engineering (UNI). The methodology used corresponds to quantitative approach studies with a non-experimental cross-sectional correlational design. The sample for this research was a subgroup of our study population. For this reason, we work with a group of 44 students from the 2020-I cycle of the UNI pre-university center. For this purpose, non-probabilistic sampling was applied. The measurement of the variables was done using the survey technique and the instrument was the questionnaire. Regarding the most significant results, we can point out that 34% of the students use cognitive reading strategies on a regular basis and 34% have a medium level in their reading comprehension. Finally, the main conclusion, which considers the general objective, is that there is a significant correlation between the cognitive reading strategies and the reading comprehension of the students of the 2020-I cycle of the pre-university center of the National University of Engineering.
