The objective of this work and research is to show that obesity is a growing problem in recent decades and shows a direct association with cardiovascular and metabolic diseases in adults. Our objective was to determine the relationship between the body mass index and the abdominal perimeter in adults who attend a polyclinic in the district of Ate, Lima 2022. The research has a quantitative approach and a descriptive correlational type. The study was carried out with a sample of 189 adults, the data were collected through anthropometric evaluation carried out by previously trained and standardized researchers, the instruments were calibrated according to the technical standard of the Ministry of Health. It was found that 61% of people are overweight determined by body mass index. 51% of adults also have high and very high risk. The Pearson correlation coefficient shows a considerable positive correlation (r: 0.787, p: 0.000) at the 5% significance level. The study concluded that the body mass index shows a high and direct correlation with the abdominal perimeter in adults who attend the International Polyclinic in the Ate district, in Lima during the year 2022.
