The objective of this research is to show that, in the novel Los geniecillos dominicales, frustration and failure are the guiding thread of the actions. The protagonist, a twenty-two-year-old young man, reflects the inability to adapt to work, seeks refuge in nightlife, but without fulfilling his expectations. As a lawyer, he is trapped in the limbo of disagreements; as a son, he had denied and accelerated his offspring; as a writer, incredulous of his ability, he is unable to finish his reading; as a salesman, taxi driver's assistant, he had managed to feed his inability. Succumbed to bohemianism, lost in orientation, in the end, in a meaningless life, he fails even in his suicide attempt. All the fragments end in unfulfilled desires; thus Ribeyro constructs, from the dark side, an aesthetic of frustration. This thesis seeks to describe, through a narratological-socio-phenomenological analysis, an aesthetic used by Julio Ramón Ribeyro in his narrative built on the basis of the frustration of the characters. The capital society of the fifties reveals the path of the writer, as a profession succumbed to bohemianism, the literary art devastated in an era without much value. The writer was attached to the night life where the gatherings were prolonged for whole nights. That condition, the yearnings of the generation, are portrayed by the writer, under the topic of the Geniecillos.
