Objective: to evaluate the heavy metals arsenic (As) and lead (Pb) in vegetables from the area of Carapongo - Lurigancho - Chosica - october 2023, in order to evaluate whether they are within the permissible limits allowed by international organizations. Materials and Methods: quantitative approach using the technique of Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry ICP MS, 30 samples were collected and the levels of Lead and Arsenic were identified. Results: the results showed that the lead and arsenic content exceeded the maximum permitted limits established by the Codex General Standard for Contaminants and Toxins in Food and Feed (Codex Stan 193-1995), which indicates that for Pb it is 0.1 mg/kg and for Arsenic the Common Market of the South in its Resolution MERCOSUR/GMC/RES. Nº 12/11 for As 0.1 mg/kg. Conclusion: the concentrations of heavy metals As and Pb, found in vegetables, are outside the limits allowed at international level, which can produce adverse effects by the ingestion of contaminated vegetables.
