Nowadays, the use of neural machine translators has increased the demand for post-editing services in the translation industry. Access to neural machine translators has brought several benefits for translator productivity and profit margins for the translation or post-editing service provider. In this industry, artificial intelligence is a technology used for translation and post-editing. We will focus on artificial intelligence applied to large language models and analyze the responses of an artificial intelligence model (ChatGPT) in error recognition produced by an automatic translator as a previous step in post-editing. For this, three stages of analysis will be carried out. First, we will recognize and analyze the errors of the neural machine translation (DeepL) at the lexical-semantic, morphosyntactic, and stylistic-pragmatic levels of the text “Information for parent(s)/guardian or legally authorized representative”. Secondly, we will replicate the first stage process using ChatGPT. Finally, both results will be compared to show some of the strengths and limitations of ChatGPT as a tool that facilitates the next step: post-editing.
