Background: The nursing professional is the first person responsible for carrying out palliative care, but to apply it is necessary to have optimal knowledge regarding said care. The population that requires this care is patients in the terminal stage, diagnosed with oncological and non-oncological pathologies. In order to effectively carry out this care, nursing professionals must show their commitment to using the necessary knowledge and skills. Objective: Determine the level of knowledge about palliative care of nursing professionals who work at the Santa Rosa Hospital. Material and method: The present study had a quantitative approach with a descriptive cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 66 nursing professionals. For data collection, the technique used was the survey and the instrument was a questionnaire, where psychometric tests demonstrated that it is valid and reliable for its application. The instrument was adapted from the book Palliative Care by Nuria Trujillo Garrido. Results: The level of knowledge about palliative care was medium (57.58%). By dimensions, a high level of knowledge (59.09%) was observed for the pain management dimension; a medium level of knowledge (65.15%) for the dyspnea control dimension; The level of knowledge about palliative care in its palliative sedation dimension had a medium level (59.09%) and in the skin care dimension a high level of knowledge was obtained (57.58%) from nursing professionals. Conclusions: It was demonstrated that the level of knowledge about palliative care of nursing professionals is a medium level.
