Maintenance in a hydrocarbon refining company plays a highly relevant role since currently the fact of applying maintenance strategies based on prevention does not guarantee adequate reliability of the assets that are part of the production lines, for this reason This is why the need to implement maintenance strategies focused on reliability arises that allow us to guarantee and optimize costs so that a piece of equipment is in acceptable operating conditions within its operational context, faced with this need, the present work is presented as an alternative of solution.The present work develops the necessary tools for the implementation of maintenance focused on reliability in the pump system of the Primary Distillation Unit in a hydrocarbon company. The corresponding implementation has required the collection of operational and technical data and the analysis of historical failure data to establish the current condition of the equipment. Subsequently, the hierarchization of the critical equipment and its corresponding analysis of the probable failure modes that they present were carried out, as a result, the necessary maintenance strategies and maintenance plans were defined and the intervention procedures were elaborated, resulting in the optimization of the material and human resources of the company.
