The aim of this research was to explore the self-concept in people addicted to psychoactive substances, from 20 to 30 years old, who begin their rehabilitation process. The participants were male from 20 to 30 years of a rehabilitation center. The methodology used to achieve the objective was based on semi-structured interviews, based on three dimensions of selfconcept: personal, emotional and social. The results show that in the personal dimension there is a dissociated, fragmented and split self. In the emotional dimension the presence of negative emotions, for the most part, becomes evident, but at the same time some characteristics such as low tolerance to frustration, defense mechanisms, manic protection mechanisms and the ability to handle negative affects. Finally, as regards the social dimension, it can be pointed out that the presence of social skills is scarce when they are related to others. This study will serve as a contribution to design and implement new strategies in the process of rehabilitation of people addicted to psychoactive substances.
