This research describes the beliefs about the expression of emotions in men who have been involved in violence participating in a reeducational program in Lima. In order to achieve this goal, a qualitative study was carried out with a hermeneutical approach in which 5 semi-structured interviews were carried out, where the construction of the masculinity of these men, the beliefs in relation to the male emotional world and its link with the exercise of violence were addressed. Among the most outstanding results it was found that throughout their socialization these men developed a series of beliefs about their masculinity where emotional restriction occurs as a learning process that leads them to use violence as a means to process their emotional experiences. Likewise, it was found that many of the beliefs about the emotional expression naturalized and normalized violence as a legitimate act to express emotions. Also, it was found that the reeducational program connects them with their male vulnerability, in which they experience a series of emotions that they learn to know, identify and manage. This is recognized by the participants as an important point so that they assume responsibility for their violence and then abandon it during the process.
