Nowadays, the high rate of urban growth has caused a reduction in natural spaces reserved for recreation. For this reason, people look elsewhere, far from the city, for an attractive recreational space to enjoy. One of these destinations, in Peru, is the Islas Ballestas, located in the department of Ica, which is characterized by a high tourist demand both for its scenic beauty and for its function, ecosystem service, being a habitat for coastal marine species as sea lions and guano birds and even as a refuge for migrant birds. In that sense, Ballestas is part of the Guaneras Islands, Islets and Points National Reserve of the National Service of Natural Protected Areas by the State (SERNANP by its Spanish acronym). The body in charge of protected areas establishes an entrance fee, which is composed of the fee of S/ 11.00 for visiting the Islas Ballestas plus another fee of S/ 5.00 to cross the pier and board the boats that take people to the islands. The transfer service is a separate cost that varies around S / 35.00. Thus, Thus, it will be evaluated by whether the rate designated by SERNANP, S/ 16.00, is the optimal rate for users or if they would be willing to pay more for the visit, in order to improve the conservation of the coastal marine area provided by the Islas Ballestas. This calculation is made through the Contingent Valuation method using surveys as an instrument to obtain the data.
