The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between socioeconomic factors and academic performance in the area of English in the context of Covid-19 in fourth grade high school students of the San José de Monterrico educational institution in the district of Río Magdalena – VRAEM, in 2022. For this, the mixed type of research, descriptive and correlational level, was used. The sample was made up of 30 4th grade high school students and a population of 167 students. The techniques and instruments for data collection were the survey and questionnaire for students, the interviews and interview guide for teachers and parents, with the purpose of collecting information on socioeconomic perceptions in relation to student performance. Likewise, the grade record of the students corresponding to the IV two-month period of 2022 was analyzed. The results obtained demonstrate that there is a relationship between the socioeconomic factors of the families and the academic performance of the students, of whom 53.4% have B, 33.3% obtained an A grade and 13.3% AD regarding the competencies of English as a foreign language.
