The present research aims to identify the relationship between mining and socio-environmental conflicts in the regions with the highest and lowest incidence of conflict. For this, the relationship between mining activity and socio-environmental conflicts in the period 2007 to 2018 was analyzed in the regions of: Áncash, Apurímac, Arequipa, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huancavelica, Ica, La Libertad, Piura, Puno and Tacna. To identify this relationship, a Panel Data methodology was developed, applying the regression econometric model in Lin-Log function, with Random Effects estimator, the best alternative for our model according to the Hausman Test. Based on the results, we can identify that the significant variables are: Illiteracy rate, Gold mineral production, Mining investment and Gross Domestic Product. Our results show that the higher the illiteracy rate the higher the conflict index. Likewise, as mining investment increases, there is an increase in socio-environmental conflicts. On the other hand, when there is an increase in gold production, socio-environmental conflicts decrease. These data are relevant and deserve to be analyzed to identify the dynamics between socio-environmental conflicts and mining in our country.
