The questions resulting from empirically accompanying couples in difficulty, through the Marriage Renewal Program of Lima (Rema) were the razons to seek in the Master of Counseling, the academic support to understand the complicated affective bond of the couple, as well as the dynamics of the help process that is the heart in the task of accompanying couples in Rema. Finding the structural coincidences that exist between the support model developed by Egan in its three stages and the process of help that the couples of the team in Rema apply, was essential to homologate both processes and based on that, to promote a growth plan that integrates the abilities and skills of the Egan Expert Counsellor (1981) in the performance of couples of Rema´s team work. A closer look at the reality of the accompaniment task, that is the “doing” of Rema´s couple team, allowed us to learn about the difficulties, limitations and personal challenges, revealing the need of improving the cultivation of its "being" as a companion; in this sense, the growing plan referred finally will allow to optimize and strengthen the quality of the apostolic service of Rema´s couple team, in the benefit of the families of our society that so desperately need it.
