The aim of this research is to identify the relationship between the punctuations in inhibitory control in secondary education students in a Lima Metropolitana school, and variables of age, sex, academic performance and socioeconomic status. The study is observational, analytic, non-experimental. Inhibitory control was measured through the Stroop Color and Word Test, and socioeconomic, family environment and academic data were collected from 166 secondary education students, between 12 to 17 years old (women, 54.8 %). Four models were adopted for data analysis, which were based on: direct punctuation of Stroop’s third layer as a pure measure of inhibitory control, interference score, as a result of an equation which compares direct and expected punctuations, and both models, but corrected for age. The most significative results were shown in the first model: direct punctuation of Stroop’s third layer, non-corrected for age. The results also showed a significant relationship between inhibitory control and variables of sex and age, but not significant in relation to the academic performance and socioeconomic status. Additionally, it was found that inhibitory control is related to highest parents educational level and to be third in birth order between siblings.
