This study was conducted in an educational institution, Napuruna belonging to an indigenous community, located in the Upper Napo in the Peruvian Amazon. It has aimed to understand and explain the impact of cooperative work in social communication skills and empathy in napurunas secondary students. For the development of this qualitative research, with an explanatory interpretative level, a focus group was applied to students and an interview to the teachers, in order to gather enough information about their experiences of cooperative work in the classroom. It has been found that the cooperative work allows students to become more involved in their own learning process, together with his colleagues, recognizing that sharing the benefits everyone, because they pool their knowledge and experiences. It was found that cooperative work deploys communication skills in students as peer interaction promotes listening, attention and exercise to reach agreements. It also strengthens the identity, self-esteem and integration among them, encouraging them to discover new skills in making their expression more harmonious and positive relations. The use of cooperative work in the classroom, especially if the groups are heterogeneous, it is an ideal to harness the potential of learning among students strategy. If you decide to move forward on this recognition and practice, there will be an atmosphere of cooperation and solidarity learning and a sense of belonging and affection for the educational experience and a longterm social commitment.
