Objective: to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and preventive practices regarding healthcare- associated infections (HAIs) among nursing professionals at CMI Cesar López Silva in 2024. Materials and Methods: a quantitative method with a descriptive-correlational design and a cross- sectional approach was used. The materials included valid and reliable questionnaires to assess knowledge and preventive practices. Results: the main results showed that in the general knowledge dimension, 43.9% of professionals had intermediate knowledge, 39.02% had high knowledge, and 17.07% had low knowledge. In the dimension of conditioning factors, 46.34% had intermediate knowledge, 34.15% had high knowledge, and 19.51% had low knowledge. In the transmission means dimension, 48.78% had intermediate knowledge, 39.02% had high knowledge, and 12.20% had low knowledge. Regarding preventive practices, in the primary prevention dimension, 43.9% had regular practices, 36.6% had adequate practices, and 19.5% had deficient practices. In secondary prevention, 46.3% had regular practices, 36.6% had adequate practices, and 17.1% had deficient practices. In tertiary prevention, 51.2% had regular practices, 34.1% had adequate practices, and 14.6% had deficient practices. The correlation test indicated a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and preventive practices (p = 0.004). Conclusions: it was found that greater knowledge is associated with better preventive practices among nursing professionals at CMI Cesar López Silva in 2024.
