Fuelwood is a non-wood forest product that is used indiscriminately throughout Peru, only in Loreto 400 843, 30 m³/yr was consumed and in Peru it reached 7 028 267, 28 m³/yr. The main objective of this study is to know the current situation of the commercialization of fuelwood from the forest species existing in the middle basin of the Nanay river, Maynas; the information was collected through visits and interviews to extractors and enablers in the area. The results indicate that the most important person in the fuelwood commercialization is the enabler or intermediary. Eleven are the most extracted forest species for the production of fuelwood, of which cetico, carahuasca, shiringarana, zancudo caspi and cumala are preferred. There are two modes of commercializing fuelwood, in cubic meters (0.216 m3) as referential volume and in thousands of fuelwood slivers. The price in referential cubic meters varies between S/. 40 to S/. 50 and the prices per thousands of fuelwood slivers are between S/. 80 and S/. 90. Only two out of 21 extractors surveyed responded that they have official authorizations to extract trees and produce firewood, the remaining 19 extractors work irregularly. The most common problems are continuous seizures, lack of working capital and low prices in the local market.
