The objective was to determine the association between the level of knowledge about breast self-examination and the practices of breast self-examination in women 20 to 55 years of age of the Sol Naciente Human Settlement district of Belén, Iquitos, 2018. The method used was the quantitative and the non-experimental design of a descriptive and correlational type. The population was 100 women from 20 to 55 years old of the Sol Naciente Human Settlement District of Belen, Iquitos, 2018. The sample consisted of 100% of the population. Sampling was non-probabilistic for convenience. The techniques were the interview, the observation and the home visit. The instruments were the knowledge questionnaire on breast self-examination (Validity 92.5% and reliability 70.2%), and the Checklist for breast self-examination (Validity 93.05% and Reliability 94.3%). The data was analyzed with the SPSS 22.0 program. The inferential statistical test was Chi Square (X 2), with α = 0.05 and 95% confidence level. It was found that of 100 (100%) of women 78 (78%) had incorrect knowledge about breast self-examination, and 82 (82%) had bad practices of breast self-examination. When finding significant results X2c = 25.522 and p = 0.000, the research hypothesis is accepted, which concludes that there is a significant statistical association between the level of knowledge about breast self-examination and the practice of breast self-examination in women aged 20 to 55 years of age of the Sol Naciente Human Settlement, District of Belén, Iquitos, 2018.
