The present work describes the design of an occupational health and safety management system based on the OHSAS18001: 2007 standard, to prevent work incidents, developed in a company that provides repair and maintenance services for heavy and light machinery. The main objective is to design an occupational health and safety management system based on the OHSAS 18001: 2007 standard. This is to prevent work incidents and promote a preventive culture by improving the performance of all employees in occupational safety and health of the company "HERSAAV SERVICIOS GENERALES S.R.L". First, an initial verification analysis was carried out to comply with the occupational health and safety management system based on the OHSAS 18001: 2007 standard, obtaining as a result a 3% compliance to the occupational health and safety management system, the incidents were analyzed of the company being able to determine the following annual results for 2017: An accident rate index of 5 disabling incidents, a severity index of 42 days lost, an annual cost per incident of 13,817.46 soles and a possible cost for fines of 27,337.5 soles. All these indicators are analyzed based on 20,000 man-hours worked per year. After the design, the verification of compliance with the occupational health and safety management system based on the OHSAS 18001: 2007 standard is projected, with the expectation of 100% compliance with the occupational health and safety management system, related to the incidents. an accident rate less than or equal to 2 is expected, an index of severity less than or equal to 18, an annual cost of incidents less than or equal to 5,526.98 soles and a cost of 0.00 soles per penalty. All these indicators are in function of the proposed objectives. Through the cost benefit analysis of the present project, it was possible to determine the benefits in economic terms of the present design of the safety and health management system at work. Finally, it was concluded that the design of the occupational health and safety management system will improve the conditions of the employees of the company, to protect their physical integrity and their health through the prevention of labor incidents. This will have a positive impact on the well-being of the employees and all the interested parties, thereby increasing the quality of the machinery repair and maintenance services.
