ABSTRACT The thesis "PROPOSAL FOR IMPROVEMENT IN THE PROCESS OF ASSEMBLY OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES CUMMINS TO DECREASE THE HOURS OF DEAD TIME", would apply in the area of the MRC (Master Rebuild Center), in the process of assembling engines, in order to have better control and proper planning in our repairs with our specialized technical assistance, ensuring the assembly of engines and reducing times, as well as the armed quality. To the demands of our customers to have their engines at times specified by them and therefore the delay means a fine on the company (Distribuidora Cummins Peru), this improvement is implemented. This improvement is very convenient because we would bring benefits to our customers as well as for the company. The company now seeks to have higher profitability and therefore seeks continuous improvement with the application of different methodologies and processes with the same number of technicians. With this improvement in conjunction with the delivery of spare parts and increases the delay in the assembly, also to have a stock in the store according to the demand of repairing engines with a previous study and monitoring engines repaired for hours. currently also it has qualified staff, but there are some technical deficiency that has not yet go through a qualification process all variety of engines. Consequently all these mentioned points is necessary to implement this improvement in engine repair system. The implementation of the improvement would avoid engine failures and loss of time by Defaulters delivery of spare parts as well as train staff to avoid deficiencies in the armed as this causes critical failures in engines and economic losses considerable for the company and our customers be bad for the delay of delivery of its engines on delivery dates.
