Anemia in children and violence against women are public health problems due to their high prevalence in our country. There are known factors associated with anemia (socioeconomic level, education, sex, etc.). However, there are other agents that develop within the family environment such as domestic violence that could intensify the causes and factors. Objective: To evaluate the association between violence against women inflicted by their partner in the last twelve months and anemia in their children less five years old. Methods: It was a cross sectional analysis of The Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES) 2014, 2015 and 2016. The independent variables were the presence of psychological, physical and sexual violence, inflicted by the couple in the last twelve months; while the dependent variable was the diagnosis of anemia (values of hemoglobin <11g/dl) in children less five years old. Results: Using data from 39 884 mothers and 39926 children, the prevalence of psychological violence was 15,8% (95% CI 15,4-16,1), physical 12.9% (95% CI 12,6). -13,2) and sexual 2,9% (95% CI 2,7-3,1); the prevalence of anemia was calculated in 35,6% (95% CI 35,1-36,1). In the multivariate analysis, just a significant association was found between the presence of physical violence against mothers and anemia of their children (PR = 1,04, 95% CI: 1,00- 1,08). Conclusions: The report of physical violence of mother by partner in the last twelve months was associated with an increased prevalence of anemia in children less five years old.
