In the present research work, quarries in the province of Trujillo were evaluated and the proportion of fine sand, for plaster mortars, on their physical, chemical and mechanical properties. For this investigation, fine sand from 4 quarries was needed, located within the province of Trujillo, in the surroundings of the districts of La Esperanza and Huanchaco, for it, it had to go to the exact place of said quarries of names: Mudarra, Alpha and Omega, Lekersa and Esperanza; The material obtained from each quarry, was characterized physically and chemically, to determine the quality of each of them. For the manufacture of the test pieces, for this research, ICO type Portland cement was used, and the fine sands of each quarry, making cube samples of 5x5x5 cm, at different proportions: 1 of cement: 4 of sand, 1 of cement: 6 of sand, 1 of cement: 8 of sand and 1 of cement: 10 of sand, which were cured for a time of 28 days. The final results show that the lowest percentage of absorption, with 14.179%, was acquired by the Mudarra quarry, with a ratio of 1 of cement: 4 of sand, in the same way it had a value of 168 kg / cm2 and the lowest values of the chemical characterization, indicating in this way, that said quarry is the best quality, with respect to its physical, chemical and mechanical properties.
