This research paper studies the impact of energy generation with renewable resources (RES) on regional economic growth in Peru, using a Panel Vector Autoregressive model (PVAR) for analysis. The study covers the period from 2008 to 2022 and focuses on 13 regions of Peru that have infrastructure to produce renewable energy, considering energies such as solar, wind, biomass and hydroelectric. The results demonstrate a positive and significant relationship between RES generation and regional economic growth, indicating that the transition to a renewable energy matrix, through investment in clean energy, can be a driver for sustainable economic development in the country. In addition, the differential effects are explored according to the economic and social characteristics of each region, highlighting that the implementation of appropriate policies is crucial to maximize the benefits of the energy transition, especially in rural areas where quality of life and social well-being can be improved. The research also underscores the need to combine these policies with other initiatives to overcome initial investment challenges and ensure a long-term positive impact on economic growth.
