The study aimed at determining the yield the production of essential oil from wood samples of Aniba rosaeodora "rosewood" collected in plantations located in the village of Tamshiyacu, Loreto, Peru. Three types of samples were used as raw materials: green wood (collected two days before the test), dry wood (collected two months before the test) and green twigs (collected two days before the test). Trees from which samples were collected were of 5 cm ≥ DBH ≤ 19,9 cm and for oil extraction the distillation method of steam stripping at a semi industrial scale was used. Results show that from a total of 243 trees, which made a total of 1488,15 kg, the highest oil production of 37,90 kg (equivalent to 43 liters) was obtained distilling green wood of A. rosaeodora for 11 hours of distillation; as a result the highest yield of 2,65% and an oil density of 0,88 g/cm3 was obtained. The ANOVA and the F-test (α = 0,05) for the yield in essential oil of the three types of samples show no significance (F = 3,5427; p = 0,0962).
