The present investigation is framed in the line of public health and had like objective to relate alimentary habits and socioeconomic level with the nutritional state in students of the school of Primary Education of the Faculty of Sciences of the Education and Humanities of the National University of the Amazon Peruvian The type of research is quantitative, not experimental, descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional. The population was 194 students and the sample was 129 (41 men and 88 women) that were selected using random stratified random sampling. The anthropometric measures studied were weight, height and abdominal circumference; The following instruments were used to collect the data: food consumption frequency questionnaire, socioeconomic level survey and nutritional evaluation form. The data were processed using the statistical program SPSS version 21. The results obtained are the following: of the 41 men (100%), 51.2% presented a normal nutritional status; 46.3% were overweight and only 2.4% presented obesity. Of the 88 women (100%), 59.1% presented normal nutritional status; 28.4% overweight and 12.5 obesity. Using the nonparametric statistical test τb of kendall, it was shown that there is a statistically significant relationship (p <0.01) between eating habits and nutritional status, with a value of bilateral significance p = 0.000; and that on the contrary, there is no relationship between socioeconomic status and nutritional status, with p = 0.444.
