This research was developed in the Department of Loreto, Iquitos, Maynas province, specifically covering the 4 districts (Punchana, Belen, Iquitos, San Juan Bautista) belonging to the province of Maynas. The objetico of this study was to conduct a situational analysis of the disposal of used tires in the city of Iquitos and determine prospects for handling them in the population. The results of the study have the majority of respondents has knowledge of the problems caused by poor final disposal of disused tires, so they are aware of the need to take action for the sake of environment. Companies that sell tires do not take responsibility for final disposal, in spite that they should take responsibility for segregation parts of these products. As for marketing some 75% of companies report that they sell tires sold less than 100 units per month, in this sense the 35.79% of users of motor vehicle tire change at least one every 7 months and 55.79% of users prefer the brand of tire DURO. 100% of users are aware that the increase of the fleet affects the environment, which most think that the main impact from exposure to used tires to the environment is generating health problems represented with 51.58% ; in this regard they believe that the best approach to solve the problem of inadequate disposal of used tires is the increased participation of the authorities, manifested in 51.58% of opinions. No policy is evidenced by local authorities to manage these special hazardous waste.
