The objective of this thesis is to present a proposal for "Geotechnical Zoning based on the bearing capacity of the soil, for the Population Center of Oropesa, District of Oropesa, Quispicanchi - Cusco". This proposal delimits zones with different mechanical and geotechnical properties of the soil. Firstly, a review of the geological context of the study area was carried out. Subsequently, the results of the geotechnical investigation were obtained, considering the information collected in this study. The geotechnical data were statistically processed inferentially. Later, it is indicated that the "Proposal for geotechnical zoning based on the bearing capacity of the soil, for the Population Center of Oropesa District of Oropesa, Province of Quispicanchis - Cusco Region, 2022" is divided into surface, intermediate, and foundation zones. Additionally, a map is included that shows the soil characteristics in the study area. In this study, the main concepts necessary to understand the factors that affect the soil mass are described, as well as the measures to mitigate the unfavorable effects in the study area. A comparative study was carried out between two methods of design of surface foundations, specifically, the "Terzaghi" and "Meyerhof" methods, for the calculation of the allowable capacity. Open-air excavations (test pits) were carried out randomly, and characteristic parameters of the soils in the study area were extracted. Characterization and shear strength tests were carried out to obtain the allowable bearing capacity. It was concluded with a proposal for zoning based on the bearing capacity of the soil, concluding that the Terzaghi method is the most conservative. It is also highlighted that the Meyerhof method analyzes more parameters to provide a result. Within the established parameters, the physical characteristics of the soil were also taken into account.
