The political manipulation of Conditional Cash Transfer programs generates serious problems in redistributive policy, government accountability and political participation. This research aims to contribute to the literature on political economy by studying the effect of the conditional cash transfer program Programa Juntos in the citizen evaluation of the public administration in Peru. We use the Module and the Governance, Democracy and Transparency Module from the National Household Survey for the year 2019. The research has an explanatory scope with a quasi-experimental design and a quantitative approach. The analysis comprises 27,084 individuals. We use a coarsened exact matching strategy together with a regression analysis to balance significant differences between beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries of the Programa Juntos. The main result of the research finds that the Programa Juntos has a negative impact on the citizen evaluation of the public administration, since it reduces the probability of seeing corruption as a government problem by 2.4%. On the other hand, there is no significant impact in the citizen evaluation of the public administration in terms of economic performance, in indicators such as employment or the level of wages in the labor market.
