It has been proposed that one of the main causes of root treatment failure is the passage of bacterium through the apical foramen, as a result, an inflammatory response is caused by direct action or activation of the immune system. The aim of this research was to evaluate and compare the apical bacterial microfiltration that is produced after the root sealing using the lateral condensation technique and three different endodontic cements based on calcium hydroxide. An experimental work was performed, where 60 single-rooted teeth were selected. Those were prepared with protaper Next rotatory system, and were irrigated constantly with 5.25% sodium hypochlorite. These teeth were randomly divided in three groups of 20 pieces, each tooth was filled with a different cement using the lateral condensation technique. The external surface of each tooth was covered with a layer of transparent nail polish leaving three apical millimeters uncovered, then those were submerged in a 2% methylene blue concentration combined with distilled water in a 1 to 1 proportion during three days. After this, they were washed with water and the nail polish was removed using acetone. Finally, the teeth went through a diafanization process in order to be able to measure the microfiltration of the different dental pieces with each endodontic cement. In which it can be compared the apical microfiltration. The results obtained in this research showed that Apexit Plus (0.315mm), had a less degree of microfiltration in comparison to Sealapex (0.525mm) and, Sealer 26 (1.12mm), this last one representer a higher level of microfiltration.
