Given the rapid increase in the number of vehicles in circulation and the lack of improvements in urban infrastructure, one of the main problems facing cities is traffic congestion. For this reason, road and urban planning currently a crucial addressing problem. The main purpose of this research was to look for ways to improve mobility in the Garcilaso Oval and its intersections. To achieve this, the implementation of an overpass was proposed in order to improve vehicular flow and optimize traffic circulation in the area. Information gathering activities were research area directly field. vehicle count was performed to calculate the current vehicular flow using the Highway Capacity Manual 2016. Geometric features were obtained through a topographic survey, and a record of the traffic signs currently present in the study area was made. Using PTV Vissim software, a simulation of the geometric design of the current situation of the Garcilaso Oval was carried out. Similarly, another simulation was carried out considering the implementation of an overpass. The justification for this geometric proposal is supported by a capacity analysis, where the improvement in vehicular circulation is evidenced. An evaluation of the transportation system was carried out in two different situations: the current state and the proposal of a new infrastructure. The results obtained in both cases were compared to perform a comparative analysis of the two alternatives.
